Sewing for Curves - Upton Dress (Cashmerette pattern)
Sat, 17 Jun 2017, 10:00 – Sun, 18 Jun 2017, 16:00 BST
This course involves making a structured dress using the Cashmerette Upton pattern.
Construction is more complicated that most of our other dressmaking classes, so would suit an advanced beginner / intermediate / confident sewer.
As we are working from a commercial pattern, the dress is available to make in the following sizes:
Adult size 16 – 32
The pattern also has cup sizes. Much of the early part of the class is likely to focus on ensuring that the pattern is adapted to fit your specific measurements accurately.
If you have any queries about fit, please contact us and we can discuss the measurements of the completed garment.
All materials and equipment will be provided. A good range of 100% cottons will be provided for you to choose from.
The cost of the class is NOT based on using one of our designer fabrics. If you would like to do so, please contact us on 0114 2455996 to discuss the additional cost for this.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cake are included.
This is an all-day course, so you will need to either bring a packed lunch, or buy something from a local shop on the day.
Length of course:
Twelve hours. Given the complexity of the pattern, you are unlikely to finish your dress on the first day. A second day has been scheduled for Sunday 18th June to allow sufficient time for finishing off.
Skill level: advanced beginner / intermediate / confident sewer
As for all of our sewing workshops, you must be able to use a sewing machine with a reasonable level of skill. On that basis, you should have either completed an “introduction to sewing machines” session, or have used a sewing machine yourself to undertake simple tasks like joining two pieces of fabric. If you have not done this, this course will not be suitable.
Terms and conditions:
Our workshops are open to individuals aged fourteen and upwards. However, a responsible adult must remain on site at all time with minors.
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.
Any further details, along with anything you need to bring with you, will be sent out via email in advance of the scheduled date.
All workshops will begin promptly at the scheduled time, so please ensure that you arrive early enough to get yourself settled in and have a coffee and cake before the class is due to start.
For cancellations with more than two weeks’ notice, a refund will be given, less a 25% administration fee. Cancellations with less two weeks’ notice are non-refundable, unless we are able to fill your place.
All workshops will clearly be marked as being suitable for beginners, intermediate or advanced. When booking a workshop, you are responsible for assessing your own abilities. Happy Hare cannot be held responsible if you book the wrong level of workshop or do not read the description of the workshop correctly. A refund will not be given for booking a workshop which you later feel is not at the right level for you, unless the cancellation is made more than two weeks’ prior to the scheduled date.
Should we need to cancel a class due to circumstance beyond our control or limited numbers, a full refund will be given. Alternatively, you will be given the option to book onto another workshop.
Please note: when making a booking it is assumed that our terms and conditions have been read and approved.
