The workshop

This event is run by The Edinburgh Remakery in partnership with LGBT Health and Wellbeing's Lothian Trans Support Programme.

Attendees are asked to bring a few items of clothing to work on. There will be an opportunity to:

  • learn how to sew and operate a sewing machine
  • learn to adapt clothing

Changing facilities for those who want to try on clothes they are altering will be available in our toilets.

The Facilitator

The workshop will be led by freelance tutor Juan Lebron (He/Him), who started his sewing adventure as a self-taught and after many (many) hours of trial and error, he found a new way to develop his crafty side and future career: being a costume-maker / tailor.

Now College-graduated (HND Costume for Stage and Screen), he has had the opportunity to add more skills by being part of relevant theatres, short films, and Operas. As a costume and cosplay maker, he expanded his knowledge regarding the use of unusual materials and techniques beyond the traditional tailoring, this experience will provide wider support for your projects.

He is really keen to share his knowledge through his workshops and 1:1 sessions, from patternmaking to tailoring, leather crafting, or even some millinery.

You can find some of Juan's works on Facebook and on Instagram.
