Sewing Workshop

Come join us for a fun and creative sewing workshop at Monty's Community Hub! Whether you're a beginner or an experienced sewer, this event is perfect for anyone looking to learn new skills or just enjoy some crafting time. In this workshop we'll be making a comfy boxy tee - which you can make to match your lounge trousers if you came to May's workshop. You're also welcome to bring your own project to work on (select Workshop without Fabric in ticket options). You'll go home with your own boxy tee and a copy of the pattern we used. Don't miss out on this opportunity to socialize, learn, and create your very own item of clothing. See you there!

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have any sewing skills / experience?

No! This is a beginner workshop and our team will guide you through every step. If you've done some sewing before / have lots of experience you're also very welcome!

Do I have to make the garment for me?

No - you can make it for whoever you like. You'll need to know their rough size when you you book - but you can always get in touch if this changes.

Is fabric provided?

It's up to you! If you want us to provide fabric, make sure you select the 'Workshop with Fabric INCLUDED' ticket option. If you want to bring your own fabric, choose the 'Workshop WITHOUT fabric (I'm bringing my own fabric)' option. Get in touch if you've chosen the wrong ticket type.

Can I use my own sewing machine?

It's up to you! Some people prefer to bring a sewing machine if they have one, so that they can practice on their own machine and get some help with how their sewing machine works. Alternatively, we've got some sewing machines you can use - just let us know in the booking questions.

What type of fabric will I need (if I'm bringing my own)?

Stretchy knit, soft and flowy woven fabric– any kind of fabric just make sure it's soft enough to fall on your body nicely so you won't look like wearing a paper box. Cottons will have a bit of structure whilst viscose or linen mix will have some drape. If in doubt, an old duvet will be fine!

How much fabric will I need?

For smaller sizes (XXS-M) a meter should be enough, but we’d suggest 1.5m for all sizes (60” wide fabric). To be safe, 2m for 45” fabric. A single duvet would provide plenty of fabric to make this top.
