Event description

Description

Our walk begins with a climb up to Housesteads Fort before turning east to follow Hadrian’s Wall over Sewingshieds Crag which provides excellent views of the surrounding countryside.

The return to the north passes prehistoric monuments before skirting Broomlee Lough, a remnant of the last ice age and home to otters, our native crayfish and a diverse range of flora before picking up the Pennine Way for our return.

Please dress for changeable weather, wear walking boots or shoes and bring drinks and snacks. If you have not already booked online, please pay on arrival.

Lace up your boots and enjoy a great time outside.

• Duration: 4.5 hrs
• Distance: 7.5 miles
• Category: Moderate
• Starting point (please meet here approx 10 minutes before the start time): Housesteads Car Park
• OS Grid Ref: NY 794 685
• Postcode: NE47 6NN

For those wishing to use GPS/Sat-Nav to find walk start points please note that, particularly in open-country, postcodes cover a large area, so, whilst the postcode will get you to the right general area, you will still need to follow the detailed directions to locate the actual Walk Start Point.
