Sewu Temple, "A Thousand" Temple Built in the 8th Century
About this event
Sewu Temple is a Buddhist temple built in the eighth century. Consisting of hundreds of temples, this ancient monument typical of the archipelago is the largest Buddhist temple complex around the Prambanan area and the second largest only to Borobudur on an Indonesian scale. The size of the land that stretches from north to south reaches 185 meters, while from east to west it reaches 165 meters.
Compared to Borobudur, Sewu Temple is located closer to the Hindu-style Prambanan Temple. In fact, the distance between the two massive temple complexes is less than 1 km. The proximity of these two sacred places of worship from two different cultures and beliefs is a sign of the harmony between religious believers that has existed for a long time.
Sewu Temple Tour is an educational tour as well as a history that holds many stories from the archipelago's past in Java. Registered as a cultural heritage in UNESCO, many domestic and foreign tourists have visited here. Come and join me on this tour to see one of the largest Buddhist temples in Java, a complex and beautiful architectural wonder that offers unique insight into Indonesia’s past.
