About this event

Charity & Causes • Human Rights

This sex work awareness training will help you to identify those who may be sex working and become more aware of the issues they may be experiencing. It will explore ways to open up conversations and you will find out more about the range of support available.

key areas you'll cover

  • Why individuals engage is sex work.
  • Understand the barriers they face when accessing support.
  • Provide practical tips on how to engage, support and work with those engaged in sex working.
  • Understand the range of support available in the community

This training will be run by the Rahab project, which is part of local charity The Mustard Tree, and has been supporting sex workers in Reading for nearly 20 years. Our teams of volunteers go out to the areas the women are working three or four nights a week and we also offer daytime outreach. The trainers, Katherine Shepherd CEO of Mustard Tree and Jackie Jackson Programme Manager, will be drawing from their experience and will facilitate discussion to provide a practical and informative training session that will leave you feeling more confident and equipped to support this at risk group.
