Sexual Harassment & Sexual Identity in the Workplace
Event Information
About this Event
For a number of years now, there have been widespread media coverage and discussion of human rights in the workplace, particularly around sexual harassment brought to light by the #MeToo movement, and sexual identity. Individuals are often passionately opinionated about this topic, with some big names such as JK Rowling speaking out in-depth on the topic, and usually facing the Cancel Culture repercussions.
The business impact is that many cases of harassment and discrimination which would previously have gone unreported, are now being brought to the employer’s attention. The number of sex discrimination claims brought against UK employers rose by 69% in 2019 alone, according to law firm GQ|Littler. According to Ministry of Justice data, LGBTQ+ workplace discrimination cases have increased by 165% from 2015 to 2020.
So, with a topic where passions are currently running high, where do opinions end and legal human rights begin?
