Empowering Professionals to Support Sexual Health & Wellbeing in Thurrock
Join us for a comprehensive and engaging training session designed to support professionals working with young people and adults in Thurrock. This interactive training will enhance your knowledge, skills, and confidence in delivering inclusive and sex-positive support across your community.
About the Training
Sexual health is an essential part of overall wellbeing. This session is for community-facing professionals, whether in education, youth work, social care, health or voluntary sectors who want to better understand and support the sexual health needs of people in Thurrock.
The training is led by Brook Thurrock, specialists in young people’s sexual health and education. We'll explore Brook’s local offer and equip you to confidently engage with young people and adults on topics around sexual health, relationships, contraception, STI prevention, and more.
What You’ll Learn
By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:
- Understand the importance of a sex-positive, inclusive approach to sexual health.
- Discuss a range of contraceptive methods and signpost to relevant services.
- Provide clear information on STIs, symptoms, testing and treatment.
- Conduct a condom demonstration and explain barrier methods.
- Understand and explain Thurrock’s C-Card Scheme (for ages 13–24).
- Recognise key safeguarding issues and use a multi-agency approach.

This training session will be an online event via Zoom. Attendees will receive a Zoom link 48hours before the training session. If your organisation does not enable the use of Zoom, personal devices can also be used. Due to the topics we will be discussing participants may want to use headphones.
