Event Title

Sexual Health & Relationships Education (SHARE refresh)

Focus Area

SHARE is an evidence-informed educational resource for use by teachers and multi agency staff working with young people to support learning about Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood. SHARE supports the delivery of the experiences and outcomes found in Curriculum for excellence relationships sexual health and parenthood organizer and aims to influence a more positive sexual health culture in Scotland.

The resource focuses on the knowledge, attitudes and skills to develop positive and healthy relationships, together with DVD clips to highlight difference aspects of the programme.

This practical and interactive multi-agency training will enable participants to familiarize themselves with SHARE principles, values and aims.

Participants will be given the opportunity to explore and experience activities and methodologies within the SHARE teaching resource. Participants will also be given the opportunity to identify opportunities and plan with local partners to jointly contribute to the delivery of SHARE within their local area to ensure a needs led, consistent, progressive approach is achieved across each associated schools group.

This CPD will support the development needs of staff/ volunteers working directly with young people e.g. Class teachers and Guidance Teachers, School Nurses, Youth Workers, Social work Youth teams, Police, Third sector staff

Course Content/Objectives

  • Increase knowledge of the national and local evidence base underpinning the requirement for  SHARE programme delivery
  • Clarify the SHARE values, rights and responsibilities
  • Raise awareness around what we know and understand about young people attitudes and the choices made around sex and relationships.
  • Practice delivering, and be given the time to think about how to start to plan SHARE programme delivery in your local setting.

Outcomes sought

  • Become more familiar with the SHARE refresh pack
  • Increase participants confidence in the delivery of sexual health messages
  • Networking and partnership connections to support local  planning and delivery
