Event description

Description

Modern day technology is changing the attitudes of sex, with 21st century pupils growing up in a culture much more sexualised than their parents. With digital activity now a central part of children and young people’s relationships, pupils have greater opportunities for contact and a new-found courage to share things.

Our free ‘Sexualisation and Modern Media’ session aims to explore sexualisation of young people including the influences from celebrities to social media, pornography and the role of society in 21st century sexualisation. We delve into the effects of these pressures and uncover anticipated issues that you may come across within your schools, investigating the effect pornography has on the brain, as well as the damage that these misconceptions can have on relationships. We also provide a detailed insight into teenage app use, including dating apps and how educators and role models can help to guide and educate young people on the dangers of unrestricted social media usage. We combine this education with the positives of social and professional media; using its growing popularity among children and adolescents to boost pupil engagement and enhance learning.

This two-hour training session is free for all primary and secondary school professionals to attend. Up to 5 tickets per school available. Further details about room location will be released once session numbers are confirmed.
