Frequently asked questions

What are the course timings

A prompt 9.30 start with the room opening at 9.10 to give everyone a chance to get ready. There will be lunch time from 12.30 - 1.15 and 15 minute breaks mid-morning and afternoon.

How will the course be taught?

It will be a very practical course where you will learn skills by watching recordings of actual sessions and practicing each of the SF skills in well-managed small groups. There will also be room for questions and discussion but the most important component is practice.

What professions will participants come from?

Usually we have a mixed group of therapists, mental health and social and child care professionals, coaches, managers and education professionals. BRIEF have run trainings and worked with the clients of all these groups so we always have relevant examples to support our teaching.

Organized by

All BRIEF events are practical: from every one you will learn a number of skills that you will be able to put to immediate use. This means a lot of time in small groups where your voice will be heard and your contributions valued. You will be practicing, in the safest possible way, interviewing each other in order to gain the required skills. This means you will know how client-sensitive solution focused questions are and as a 'bonus' you are likely to experience their positive effect on you. At a BRIEF event you are likely to meet therapists, coaches, managers and management consultants, social workers, psychologists, teachers and more.

Finally, however qualified and experienced you are, if you are new to Solution Focused Practice you will be on a level playing field with everyone else - it is so different, so client-centred, so kind and (as research is showing) good for the practitioner's wellbeing.
