Event description
Dr Chris Smith discusses his work in developing transnational, work-based engineering programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa

About this event

This webinar will explore considerations in designing transnational, work-based engineering programmes through examples and discussions. Specifically a South African example will highlight the design considerations when you have a flexible entry and exit (students can study just one level) that come from a diverse educational and experiential backgrounds (so how can you transition students equitably into an engineering programme). Then an example from Eswatini, where GCU is supporting the University of Eswatini (through a Royal Academy of Engineering funded project) in developing a work-based learning programme in engineering (and the policies and processes to support this), and doing this now at distance; interim progress will be shared, as project still running, the webinar will share how we are adapting the curriculum design approach to on-line co-creation with industry.

This community webinar series aims to enable Senior Fellows to connect to and learn from other educational leaders. Our collegial programme features expertise in diverse pedagogical areas and supports friendly enquiry and discussion of those topics.
