About this event
Parent/Carer Toolkit & Support Group
F4YP is running a support group for parents/carers of YP with SEND, emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges.
Throughout the duration of 10 sessions, you will join a community of parents/ carers of similar experiences in a safe space where you can share your own stories and journeys, guided by Sophie Ibbott, our Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist.
This programme is for parents/ carers to gain insight into their own processing and how this impacts their child.
TUESDAYS 7:00-8:30 PM
ONLINE COURSE, you will be sent a link to join closer to the starting date of the support group.

OVERVIEW
Week 1
Looking after yourself. Addressing and emphasising on the importace of getting your own needs met as a parent/carer.
Week 2
Feelings. The importance of acknowledging feelings, so children feel that their feelings are validated.
Week 3
Communication skills. Looking at how to listen and the common challanges that parents can face, whether independently or within a partnership.
Week 4
Understanding your childs behaviour. Looking at what our children’s behaviour means.
Week 5
Play development. Exploring why play is important and how to implement child-led play so the child experiences high quality special time with their parent
Week 6
Praise and Language. Looking at what a child receives through Praise.
Week 7
Lables. Looking at the importance of not ascribing to children labels but describing and supporting their behaviour instead.
Week 8
problem solving/ co regulation. Looking into how Parents can hear their child’s worries/concerns and provide constructive support to them.
Week 9
Discipline/management strategies. Exploring how we respond to our children during emotionally heightened times and discussing and explaining healthy strategies.
Week 10
Review.

Parent/Carer must be able to attend the full course (parent/carer of YP can alternate each week if desired - please book 1 ticket per family)
These workshops will have an F4YP member of staff in attendance. Please ensure you have read and understood our policies found at www.f4yp.org/needtoknow
These workshops are supported by Bedford Giving. Spaces are limited. It is preferable if your YP is already accessing F4YP but not a requirement.
ATTENDEE'S SHOULD LIVE IN OR HAVE YP ATTEND SCHOOL IN BEDFORDSHIRE.
