About this event

Sexual and gender based violence and forced migration: a workshop for healthcare professionals

The Institute for Research into Superdiversity at the University of Birmingham and Doctors of the World UK would like to invite you to take part in an online interactive workshop on the theme of sexual and gender based violence experienced by forced migrants. The purpose of the workshop is to share the findings of the UK SEREDA project, undertaken to understand the nature and incidence of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) experienced by forced migrants residing in the UK, and to work collectively to develop recommendations to help improve the lives of SGBV survivors, build their resilience and reduce vulnerability once in the UK.

The online workshop will take place on 22 June from 13.00 to 14.30 using the virtual platform Teams.

Invited workshop participants include healthcare professionals like yourself, who may come into contact/have come into contact with forced migrants who have experienced sexual and gender based violence in the UK. Your expert understanding and experience makes your contribution to the development of recommendations to inform future practice and policy and improve the outcomes for this population hugely valuable.
