Shakespeare's Footsteps Part 1 - From London Bridge to The Globe

About this event

1599. Bankside. South of the River Thames. The Las Vegas of Europe… The Puritans were in control of London on the north side, so every day thousands of honest, hard-working folks would cross London Bridge seeking entertainment in the borough of Southwark. William Shakespeare lived in this area for part of the year, he walked these streets each day. Let’s do the same. We’ll wander along the river, we’ll take a few detours, I’ll show you some of the landmarks that are still there, and take you to the areas where some used to be. And hopefully get a sense of why this area was so important to people then…and still is. We’ll end at the workplace of Shakespeare for 14 years... The Globe Theatre. I've worked on and off stage in London for 20+ years, there'll also be some amusing personal stories to tell...
