Description

‘We can have all the data in the world but it is meaningless unless we are able to learn from it. ’ Chief Medical Officer’s Annual Report Realistic Medicine

We would like to invite interested colleagues to the launch of the Health & Care Informatics Network for Scotland (HcINS) as part of the DataFest Fringe; this is being supported through a partnership with the Scottish Government and the Public Health & Intelligence Unit (PHI) of NHS National Services Scotland. The aim is to facilitate a network which promotes collaboration across health and care organisations, academia , policy and other sectors in support of improving the health and care system in Scotland.

National scoping workshops in summer 2017 highlighted that colleagues from a diverse range of organisations and roles in data and intelligence were keen to network together and increase connectivity so they can;

Share - Understand data sources to enhance consistency, have clear definitions of who gets access to what data, shared understanding of how to enhance the intelligence of services from the data, help support colleagues in different areas to influence leaders in their understanding and use of data

Collaborate – collaborate on projects and gain opportunities to understand different informatics roles , work across local regional and national boundaries, access support when looking for new solutions ; bring people together to accelerate developments in new areas, focus on possibilities out with acute sector data; facilitate links to the broader policy agenda such as digital public services, develop new reports once and then share widely to enhance efficiency and increase value

Learn – Share learning resources through for example on- line webinars; shared learning events, shared workforce information such as job descriptions, person specs, skills frameworks; provide support for formal and informal professional development; opportunity to learn across different system boundaries and share perspectives e.g a repository for case studies; connect to existing special interest groups such as R users; provide demos of new tools and approaches to accelerate learning.

Join us to help shape how the Network can play a part in supporting you to contribute to data driven health and social care innovations and improvements.
