Event description

The electricity distribution network in Cumbria is changing to meet the needs of a low-carbon future, and you’re invited to hear more and share your feedback and priorities for future investment with Electricity North West.

This interactive workshop is particularly relevant to:

  • Organisations supporting vulnerable customers (e.g. physical and mental health charities, flood action groups, those living in fuel poverty)

  • Businesses

  • Community and sustainability groups

  • Local authorities

  • Anyone with an interest or stake in how the electricity distribution network is being managed and transformed

You’ll hear from senior directors at Electricity North West about the electricity distribution network in Cumbria and why your views are crucial in shaping how the network will change, to support a low-carbon future. Your feedback will help guide investment across the region.

You’ll also hear how Electricity North West is making the distribution network more resilient to storms in Cumbria, and improving the landscape by moving some overhead electricity lines underground.

More than ever, households, businesses and community groups are generating more of their own energy and participating in energy markets through renewables like solar PV, hydro schemes, battery storage and ownership of electric vehicles. You’ll hear how the distribution network is transforming to meet these new demands, so that people can share the rewards of these changes.

There’s also a chance to visit a range of stands during the breaks to find out more about:

  • Community and local energy

  • New connections to the electricity network

  • Electricity North West customer service and support for vulnerable customers

  • Cumbria Action for Sustainability

  • Lake District National Park

The workshop is organised in partnership with Cumbria Action for Sustainability.
