What skills and/or knowledge will the event cover?

Share is a curriculum resource for professionals working with young people in S1-S4. It offers a comprehensive, evidence-based overview of sexual health and relationships education (SRE) and addresses the complexities that surround this subject.

All young people in Scotland need, and have a right to, good-quality sex and relationships education. Research shows that appropriately trained teachers, working in partnership with other educators, parents and the wider community can best deliver this. SHARE sessions help young people to build up their knowledge, explore and reflect on attitudes and develop their life skills, which can support them in making decisions around sexual health.

The 2 day programme is very specific in its approach, methodology, content and aims. In order to help professionals to use the resource effectively and enable them to explore the sensitive issues around sexual health and relationships that young people experience, we are offering two-day training workshops for those working directly with young people.

Who is this training for?

This is an opportunity to receive multi-agency training, which will familiarise participants with SHARE values and aims, as well as giving participants the opportunity to experience some of the activities from the teaching manual.

Where does this programme fit in?

The SHARE programme is one component of the health and well being curriculum. Sex and relationships education is a lifelong process, and SHARE is viewed as one important part of supporting this in the context of the whole school experience.

All participants will receive a copy of the refreshed educational resource on completion of the 2 day training.

SHARE training is primarily aimed at classroom teachers, specifically those delivering the Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) curriculum. However, to ensure a whole school approach and consistency of messages being given to young people, the training will be multi-agency.
