Share your Leeds PGR experience
Event Information
About this event
Please join us on Wednesday 2nd February, 10:30 – 11:30 am to tell us about your experience of being a PGR at the University of Leeds. This is open to all PGRs, regardless of Faculty, year of study or study mode. The event will be held via Teams and will NOT be recorded, however, whilst notes will be taken, comments will not be attributed or linked to any individual. No names will be recorded but Faculties/Schools may be noted where relevant with permission.
The agenda for the event will be as follows:
Induction and first few months
- Did we meet your expectations?
- What do you wish you had known before you started?
- How did you find the inductions?- If you could change one thing, what would it be?
First 12 months onwards
- How did your relationship with your supervisor develop? Friend or boss? Is the supervision you received what you expected?
- Were the milestones as you expected/prepared for?
- Where are the pressure points?
How is your work/life balance?
- Is your PhD like working full-time?
- How have you found jugging external responsibilities and your PhD?
The session is being hosted by Victoria Masters (Graduate School Manager, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences). The experiences that are shared during this session will be used to inform us of areas for improvement as well as what we are doing well. The session will also be treated as a pilot for exploring the possibility of making similar sessions a regular occurrence.
There is a limit of 40 attendees for this session on a first come first served basis. If you miss out on registration for this event but have something specific you wish to feedback to the Doctoral College then please email doctoralcollege@leeds.ac.uk to let us know.
Thank you
