We are excited to invite you to the seminar Shared Classrooms, Stronger Communities: Practical Insights from Shared Education, Integrated Education, and Schools Linking in Northern Ireland and England, hosted by the Centre for Identity and Intergroup Relations and the Kids in Context Lab within the Queen's University Belfast School of Psychology.

The seminar will bring together key education stakeholders from Northern Ireland and England to explore successful practices in fostering stronger, more connected communities through education. Highlights will include insights from The Linking Network, a leading organization in England with over 20 years of experience in fostering social cohesion through the Schools Linking Programme. This programme, which connects schools in diverse communities, promotes integration through sustained social mixing among pupils, especially in segregated areas.

Representatives from Northern Ireland will share their experiences in shared and integrated education, offering a valuable perspective on the unique challenges and successes in the region. The event aims to facilitate a two-way dialogue, encouraging mutual learning and collaboration between Northern Ireland and England to strengthen communities through education.

The seminar will focus on:

  • Highlighting successful practices in shared education, integrated education, and schools linking.
  • Facilitating meaningful dialogue between stakeholders from Northern Ireland and England.
  • Exploring opportunities for collaboration, co-development, and mutual learning to further strengthen our communities, including through research partnerships that can generate robust evidence of impact.

We hope you will join us for this important discussion!
