Event description

Description

This one-day symposium focuses on the themes of lending, borrowing, and touring exhibitions. Keynote speakers and workshop leaders include representatives of the Touring Exhibitions Group, International Council of Museums, Museums Association, University of Aberdeen and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. Participants will be introduced to current practise, new ideas, and innovative initiatives.

It will provide the opportunity to:

  • explore the barriers and opportunities surrounding inter-museums and organisational loans and the sharing of collections
  • identify what support is available nationally and internationally.

This symposium will be ideal for volunteers and staff of all levels who are involved in lending, borrowing, touring collections, or are interested in finding out more.

The symposium will act as a springboard for a six month follow-on skills development programme focussed on sharing collections with workshops delivered by partners or commissioned by Museums Galleries Scotland.
