During the month of March, we will highlight the experiences of women from our Black community. Menopause affects every female and family unit differently, this week we will have the privilege of hearing more about the journey from two of our friends Nina Kuypers and Anita Powell.
Anita and Nina started the group ‘Black Women in Menopause’ to make Black women more aware of the affects menopause. They learnt there was a gap from their own personal experiences. The group is for Black women to connect and explore with each other the topic of menopause. It is a safe space to share their experiences, as well as support each other. The group also offers educational events – these are held with Black professionals, where they discuss menopause and its impact on the body, for example how menopause is associated with our mental health or how it can affect our hair and skin. Black women and women of colour need to start talking and sharing their experiences of menopause.

Sharing Dreams and Struggles Within our Black African Caribbean Community.
We are looking forward to meeting our black African Caribbean community and others from anywhere within the UK and abroad. Being able to converse and share things with others who share the same heritage and ideals is indeed a good way of coming together in unity, solidarity and strength.
We are encouraging our community to strive towards the changes that need to happen along with offering support in any way possible. Lets engage in some quality time and enjoy sharing anything we feel to discuss together, during our regular online sessions.
Systemic and institutional racism along with oppression is and has always been prevalent in the UK regarding our black/brown African Caribbean community residents, this must and has to change now.
