Guest speaker - Nathaniel Oke
Nathaniel Oke is a trained psychotherapist and has been a registered member of the British Association of Counselling Psychotherapy (BACP), for over 12 years.
Nathaniel qualified with a Diploma in Counselling Skills in 2008 and earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from London Southbank University in 2014.
Nathaniel has a passion for young people and it was this passion which encouraged him to develop the Thought feeder project in 2005, funded by Lambeth Council. Through this project, Nathaniel used his passion for writing and performing poetry to work with local youths from difficult backgrounds using poetry as a pathway to expression and creativity and a conduit of healing wounds otherwise buried. The cathartic nature of the project proved popular as the young people reported finding their voices. The Thought feeder project ran successfully for two years, engaging over 100 young people.
Sharing Dreams and Struggles Within our Black African Caribbean Community.
We are looking forward to meeting our black African Caribbean community and others from anywhere within the UK and abroad. Being able to converse and share things with others who share the same heritage and ideals is indeed a good way of coming together in unity, solidarity and strength.
We are encouraging our community to strive towards the changes that need to happen along with offering support in any way possible. Lets engage in some quality time and enjoy sharing anything we feel to discuss together, during our regular online sessions.
Systemic and institutional racism along with oppression is and has always been prevalent in the UK regarding our black/brown African Caribbean community residents, this must and has to change now.
