Sharing effective references & conduct information project update
Event Information
About this event
We'll be providing an update on our collaborative project with Skills for Care, Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS), Dominic Headley & Associates & VBA Consulting. You’ll hear the outputs and common themes we have uncovered through surveys and consultations, we will also be myth-busting, and talking about innovation.
UK companies have been conducting references for decades yet, on the whole, references remain poorly executed, misunderstood and much maligned. Bringing together the best in the industry, this webinar looks at why referencing is such a problem and what value they bring, along with fantastic insights from the DBS. Whilst the project is currently focussed on Social Care, there are many benefits cross-sector that are fantastic outputs that could be utilised to improve safeguarding and reduce inefficiency.
Join us to find out what we have uncovered throughout the project, why references matter across all sectors - yet in reality are done sporadically, if at all. How the rise of falsified fake career histories and fake references has meant it is now more important than ever that the UK improves and develops for the modern labour market.
Questions such as how do we take the much maligned reference process and make it a key part of modern hiring, what is the role of standardising, innovation, technology, and safeguarding will be covered.
Speakers include Skills for Care Project Manager - Recruitment and Retention - Jeanine Willoughby, Disclosure & Barring Service Executive Director for Barring and Safeguarding – Suzanne Smith, and trade body council member, Europe, for the global employee screening industry, Home Office ECHO Committee Member, APPG Member, and Director of Reed Screening - Keith Rosser.
