Event description

Description

*PLEASE NOTE - THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FROM ITS ORIGINAL DATE OF 13 MARCH*

‌Facilitated by Professor Rowena Murray, University of the West of Scotland

This will be a practical workshop, involving writing activities, discussions of these activities and time to think about how to use them for academic writing projects.

Writing strategies we will cover include targeting journals, analysing published articles, freewriting, generative writing, outlining, writing abstracts, dealing with peer review, making time to write and writing groups, micro-groups and retreats.

Participants can use laptops during the workshop – if you have one – although it is not essential. All the writing activities in this workshop are intended to help participants develop journal articles, but the strategies work for other forms of academic writing.

This event is open to staff and postgraduate students and includes all refreshments and lunch.

For further information on this topic, see Murray, R (2013) Writing for Academic Journals, 3rd edition. Maidenhead: Open University Press-McGraw-Hill.
