Sharing Handicraft Secrets

DESIRÉE KÖSTER COUTURE sponsored by SWEA London presents a series of seminars exploring Nordic culture from a fashion and textiles perspective.
This time round, we will be bringing to London two inspirational speakers allowing them to share fascinating insight into the colourful traditional clothing, history and techniques that form the Nordic style and strong cultural identity today.
Talks will be given by:
ANNA-KARIN JOBS ARNBERG:
Head of Folk Costumes and Curator at Dalarna Museum
Anna-Karin will bring to life and generously share her vast knowledge of both theoretical and practical subjects regarding Sweden’s traditions, folk costumes and music.
Anna-Karin has the Journeyman's certificate in the folk embroidery known as “påsöm”, and will be work shopping this technique showing you how to embroider colourful flowers with wool.
This talk will be held in English
Inger has developed and designed patterns for the traditional look of “Spedetröjor” (Hand knitted wool Cardigans) with intricate knitting techniques and beautiful trimmings around the edges.
She will share with you the history behind these lovely cardigans and how to make them.
Talk will be held in Swedish with an English translator and a presentation written in English.
