Sharing the View: Philosophy in the Gallery

By Sheffield Museums

Overview

Join us for an informal but in-depth conversation about art and philosophy.

Please note Sharing the View will be taking place at Millennium Gallery as a one-off in January 2026. Sessions from February 2026 will resume as normal at Graves Gallery and can be booked here.

Join with others to look at the ideas that emerge when we look at art together. This will be an informal and in-depth discussion.

Each month facilitator Rosie Carnall will pick a new question, topic, thought or idea and choose pieces of artwork around the gallery for you to explore, question and philosophise.

Rosie uses the Philosophy for Communities (P4C) method, a structured but flexible process for a group to find and discuss a big question. P4C gets you thinking creatively, critically, collaboratively and with care; thinking and talking together to delve into ideas more deeply. Rosie has years of experience in using this method and loves getting people to think, talk, and listen together.

All welcome, no experience required.

Please note that from October Sharing the View will be a charged-for event to cover running costs. Event costs have previously been covered by generous funding from the Ampersand Foundation as part of a 5 year project of change and improvement at the Graves Gallery.
