The expectations of teachers to the Professional Standards in Further Education in England
Kathryn Lyndon —MSc Education student at Southampton Education School
Further Education is becoming increasingly important to support learner’s future prospects. To ensure that learners receive the best experience, excellent teaching is essential. The Professional Standards are there to ensure that teaching meets these high expectations. However, for new teachers, it is not always transparent how the professional standards match up to everyday teaching.
In this seminar, the application of the theory within the classroom will be discussed, as well as the impact and expectations of the Professional Standards on everyday teaching.
Kathryn is a postgraduate student at Southampton Education School and she has been teaching in Further Education since 2015.
