Do you have a passion for creative activities, such as crafts, singing, theatre or music?
Would you like to have the confidence and knowledge to be able to share your passion by passing on your creative skills to others?
If this sounds like you, we’d love you to join us for this friendly and informal skills development day.
Gill, the workshop leader, will show you some tried and tested ways of teaching people how to take part in, and enjoy, creative cultural activities – and work with you to create a few new ones! By the end of the day, you will understand how to get (and keep) people interested in your own creative activity sessions.
On the day you will:
Learn the principles of planning and running a session, and how to send everyone off feeling inspired to do more.
Learn how to handle difficult situations… and how to celebrate successes!
Low to make your sessions accessible to people with diverse needs and backgrounds.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
A bit more info about Gill who will be leading the workshop:
Gill knits, sews, embroiders, paints, draws and occasionally keeps a journal. She loves colour, texture, pattern and wants to do it all perfectly - preferably in the next five minutes - but she finds fun in everything she does. When Gill’s not making stuff herself, she’s teaching someone else how to do it (or teaching someone else to teach someone else to do it) because sharing her creative skills is what she does best of all.
About the venue:
This workshop will take place in the Botanic Cottage Garden Room, which is located in the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. This is a beautiful space that hosts a range of learning and education events, and is available for community use. The building is wheelchair accessible and has level access. A map of how to get to the Botanic Cottage will be emailed to you prior to the event.
