Event description

Description

This three-part series of workshops have been carefully put together by the wonderful Julia Behrens, an expert in the world of herbal medicine and female health. Each workshop has been tailored to educate you on the intricate processes of the female hormonal system. We will discuss the common conditions and complaints that many women face throughout their lives; there will be a chance for group discussions and mind mapping to help broaden the understanding of what each individual would like to achieve by the end of the 3 part workshop series. Each workshop has been structured separate to one another, so there is no obligation for anyone to attend all 3 of the workshops, however, we will express that taking part in all 3 will be beneficial in the information and practical knowledge that each person will go away with by the end.

Please kindly see below for the breakdown information for each workshop

April 29th 2018 – 1st workshop – 10am-12.30pm:

  • This workshop will focus on, delivering an understanding of the female hormonal system, the phases, the menstrual cycle, common conditions that arise (skin disorders, UTI infections, fungal infections, bloating). Julia will discuss how you can use your natural environment to tackle these common conditions with the uses of natural herbs and ointments.
  • We will incorporate some group work, group discussion and mind mapping of the common conditions that we each personally struggle with at various times of the month, and then share these with the rest of the group.
  • We will also gather information from each individual of their current symptoms, or what they feel they struggle with the most hormonally and from these we will endeavour to incorporate as much useful, practical knowledge as we can throughout all 3 of the workshops.

May 13th 2018 – 2nd workshop - 10am-12.30pm:

  • This workshop will involve foraging around campus and the Sussex Downs. As we are foraging for herbs and plants, Julia will incorporate the health and safety measures to take and the do’s and don’ts or foraging.
  • We will then head back to the campus and begin a practical session of herb making, tincture making and practical solutions to hormonal conditions.

May 27th 2018 – 3rd workshop - 10am-12.30pm:

  • This workshop will consist mainly of practical work, making ointments, infusing oils and pastes. Julia will guide each group through the medicine making process and at the end of the session; each individual will go home with their very own ointment and any herbs they have created.
  • We will have a group discussion with regards to what everyone feels they have gotten out of the workshop, we will have a look back on the mind maps and people’s individual mind maps on what they feel they have achieved throughout the session.

We hope you feel enthused to take part in these workshops and we look forward to encouraging and supporting you in the process of taking your health concerns into your hands.

Warm regards
