About this event
Are you an entrepreneur thinking about – or in the early stages of – starting a new business? This one-hour-long virtual event is designed to inspire, educate and provide practical knowledge to early stage entrepreneurs.
The first instalment in our digital series will include speakers Freddie Garland, Founder of Freddie's Flowers, and Lauren Stevenson, Co-Founder Of Aisle8.
FREDDIE'S FLOWERS: 8 PILLARS OF SUCCESS
Freddie Garland started work as one of Abel & Cole's delivery drivers straight after graduation. With a bit of experience in selling subscription models and having two parents who were florists, Freddie soon spotted the potential for a new floral subscription delivery service in the UK. With little knowledge of the mechanics of running a company, Freddie was forced to learn some hard lessons along the way, including using an ill-fated milk float as a delivery vehicle and overcoming sourcing issues. Since then, Freddie's Flowers has gone from strength to strength and in this session, Freddie will reveal his eight pillars of success – including the importance of being likeable, word of mouth marketing, branding and quality control.
HOW TO APPROACH PR IN TODAY'S WORLD
It was Lauren Stevenson who spied a gap in the market for an agency that brought together traditional PR and digital marketing. Joining forces with Virginia Norris to launch Aisle 8 – an agency offering digitally re-mastered communications – the two now oversee a team of 27 at the company's Farringdon-based HQ. Taking care of the PR and communications for brands that range from early stage ventures such as Fenton and Lockdown Liquor & Co., to bigger players that include Away, Jo Loves & Reiss, its proven expertise in launching and building brands has helped Aisle 8 become the go-to agency for some of the world's biggest direct-to-consumer businesses. Lauren will be discussing what PR looks like in today's world & how to approach it – either in-house or with an agency PR consultant.
