About this Event

Come and learn about the different types of funders you’re likely to encounter and how to put together an ‘ask’ to appeal to each.

Please note this event is for Guild members only. You can read more about membership here.

In this workshop Tracey Shibli will show members the different types of funder they are likely to encounter and how to put together an ‘ask’ to appeal to each. You’ll be walked through a typical application process: what funders are looking to see in their applications, common errors and pitfalls as well as useful tips you can use.

In our follow up session you’ll be able to bring along the application that your working on and as a group we’ll work together to ensure it’s hitting all the right points and suggest ideas and improvements. If you’re feeling too shy to share your work you can just sit back and absorb the discussions - there’s not pressure to share your work with the group!

As an Arts Administrator and Fundraiser with over 30 years experience Tracey offers friendly, no nonsense advice on sources of funding and practical, well-honed bid writing skills. She works with an eclectic range of groups from large arts organisations to small parish councils and from welfare charities to choirs.

For 10 years Tracey was Administrative Director of Music in the Round, Sheffield's chamber music promoter. During that time, as well as sustaining the company's NPO status, she was successful in securing an Arts Council grant of £300,000 to establish a national touring circuit for chamber music.

She was also involved in the £340,000 redevelopment of Endcliffe Park Playground in 2008. Other capital projects have included £20,000 for the refurbishment of a local scout hut and £50,000 for the refurbishment of a children’s playground in Hungarton, a small Leicestershire village (this project achieved 100% success for the applications submitted including £35,000 from BIFFA Award and £12,000 from the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ scheme).

Recent and current clients include: Greentop Community Circus, VocalEyes, Forced Entertainment Ltd, Sheffield Industrial Museums and St Wilfrid's Centre.  She is a member of the Institute of Fundraising. In October 2019 she joined the Board of Sheffield Creative Guild.

Sheffield Creative Guild // Funding workshops

At last year’s AGM you told us that you’d like more support in creating funding bids for your various projects, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do with our new programme of funding themed workshops. We’ll take you through the stages of sourcing funding, putting in your application and evaluating your project. This will be presented by experts in the field in three individual workshops with follow-up drop in sessions available for anyone looking to delve deeper into their actual funding bids and get group and expert feedback.

These workshops are being delivered thanks to the support of Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy.
