Event description

Description

We wish to invite you to a Conference on low pay and precarious work organised as part of the Sheffield Needs A Pay Rise Campaign.

The conference will take place Friday 15th June 2018 at The Circle between 09.30-13.30

33 Rockingham Lane, Sheffield S1 4FW

http://www.thecirclesheffield.org.uk/

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Middlesex and Staffordshire Universities in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University have been commissioned by Sheffield Trades Union Council to undertake research in support of the Sheffield Needs a Pay Rise (SNAP) Campaign.

We are focusing on experiences of low pay and insecure work including zero hours contracts, temporary and part time work. The aim of the research is to strengthen the campaign by building an evidence base which will be used to inform policies and practice in terms of the role of trade unions, civil society and public-sector organisations.

We will also be looking at the roll out of Universal Credit and the implications of this for people in work.

We see your participation in the conference as vital. The purpose of the conference is to disseminate and discuss the findings and recommendations from the research.

Best wishes,

Bob Jeffery
President (Sheffield TUC)
