Sheffield's Victorian town hall is one of just five Grade I listed buildings in Sheffield. This guided tour will take you behind the scenes to see the wonderful stonework, striking Italian marble, elegant mosaic floors and incredible ornate plaster ceilings of the city's premier civic building.

This guided tour will be led by Cllr Janet Ridler, Sheffield City Council's Heritage Champion, who will tell you about some of the famous people who have visited Sheffield Town Hall, such as Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill. You'll see rare artefacts and collections, visit the impressive civic rooms, and discover the stories of the Lord Mayors who had a great influence on Sheffield's development, such as Mark Firth, John Graves, and George Bassett.

You'll also visit the Victorian Council Chamber with its original desks and furnishings, the heart of civic decision making in Sheffield for over 125 years, the scene of many historic moments including the Sheffield Pals enrolling at the start of WW1 in 1914. And you'll get the chance to pose for a photo sitting on the historic Lord Mayor's throne!
