Event description

Description

We are extremely happy and excited to announce Sheffield's first annual Digital Conference!

This is the conference for the city's digital leaders - the people who are using digital tech to make people's lives better across the city, from the economy to skills, from improving health and well-being to building our connected infrastructure. This is the conference for everyone who is interested in developing the digital capabilities, economy and reputation of Sheffield.

This is also the conference of Sheffield's emerging Digital Coalition, which is coming together around seven major city domains in order to collaborate on building digital capability in each of those areas.

These broad domains are:

  1. People
  2. Economy
  3. Governance
  4. Infrastructure
  5. Living
  6. Mobility
  7. Resources

You can find out more about the Digital Coalition and how it's organised here.

The conference will be held in the afternoon, and into the evening, of Wednesday the 15th November, at the Electric Works on Sheffield's Digital Campus, and will consist of three parts:

  • A traditional conference portion, where we will hear from members of the Digital Coalition about what is and needs to happen in their area. We will also hear from Deputy Leader of Sheffield City Council, Olivia Blake about what digital development and leadership means for the city from the perspective of the city's central democratic institution. We will also be announcing an additional major keynote speaker shortly.
  • Following this will be an 'Un-conference', in which meeting and workshopping spaces are available for each of the 7 domains where delegates can discuss and collaborate on ideas, seek help to enhance existing programmes, and debate pertinent issues. Some of these slots can be booked and allocated in advance, and others will be left open for delegates to self-organise.
  • As the evening nears, food and drinks will be served and delegates are welcome to stay and talk and network.

This conference is still IN ALPHA, which means we will publish more information as it becomes available, including about speakers, sessions, topics, launches and other activities that will flesh out the programme. If you have something to contribute to this, then please do get in touch to discuss it.
