Frequently asked questions

What is a Colour Run?

Known as the happiest run on earth, a colour run is a less stressful, untimed running event. You don’t need a certain level of fitness and can walk, run, skip, dance or moonwalk your way around our 5km route before receiving your Shelter Colour Run medal.

What happens on the day?

Arrive in your Shelter Colour Run t-shirt at least one hour before the race starts to check-in and pick up your participant wrist band. You can choose whether you loop our 1.8km route once, twice or three times before getting your post-race pics on our winners podium.

Can children/pets participate?

Of course. Any child under the age of 14 needs to register and run as part of a team with an adult participant. Witton Country Park welcomes dog walkers. However, for the safety of runners and our animal friends, we are not allowing pets on the Shelter Colour Run course.

Will the colour damage my clothing/phone/eyesight etc?

The Shelter Colour Run is not liable for damage to any personal property so come prepared to get messy! Wear something you don’t mind getting stained and don't forget a change of clothing for travelling home. It is strongly advised that colour runners wear glasses or goggles for eye protection.

What about environment impact?

The colour powder we use is certified non-toxic, free of heavy metals and non-flammable. It is made from vegetable starch died with food grade colouring. As this is a food grade product, it is not considered harmful to wildlife or vegetation.

How do I collect my t-shirt?

We ask that you collect your t-shirt prior to the event to avoid delays and missing the start time. T-shirts will be available to collect in August from our Shelter Lancashire hub on the ground floor of Blackburn Central Library. We are sorry but we cannot post t-shirts to you.

Can I turn up on the day?

We have a limit on spaces. Last year, our event sold out. We can offer on the day tickets should this event not sell out but this is unlikely. Please note that our on the day tickets have a higher fee due to no fundraising commitment.
