Event description
A one day seminar to improve your ability to manage the health hazards from welding fume and metalworking fluid.

About this Event

The Safety and Health in Engineering Partnership (SHEP) is made up of trade associations within the engineering sector. We are running this seminar with the support of HSE. HSE will be inspecting engineering premises this work year, particularly in January to March 2020. The main focus of the inspections will be on welding fume and metalworking fluids.

All welding fume (including mild steel) is now classed as a carcinogen, which can cause lung cancer and other lung diseases. Metalworking fluids can cause occupational asthma, occupational hypersensitivity pneumonitis and dermatitis. In order to protect your workers and comply with the law, namely the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, you need to ensure you have the right control measures and management arrangements in place.

The seminar is aimed at health and safety managers, factory managers and engineers in small to medium sized engineering companies. The day will include HSE expert speakers, industry case studies and practical demonstrations. It will cover health risks, control measures, management of metalworking fluids, local exhaust ventilation (LEV), respiratory protective equipment and monitoring methods.

It will take place from 9.30am to 4.00pm on Tuesday 26 November at Filtermist International Limited, Telford 54 Business Park, Nedge Hill, Telford, TF3 3AL.

Places are limited to 60 attendees so book your place now.
