Event description

Description

The Ladbroke Players will perform Somerset Maugham's comedy drama SHEPPEY from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 April at 7.30 pm, PLUS a Matinee at 2.30 pm on Saturday 28 April, in St Peter's Church, Notting Hill W11 2PN. In aid of the charity CONTACT - helping families with disabled children. Sheppey is a popular barber in 1930's London who wins a large prize in the Irish Sweepstake. At first he plans to spend the money on himself and his family - but then he decides he should give it away to the poor helping people who've been in prison or on the streets. Then he starts inviting some of them home - and his family begin to wonder if he's gone mad... The play is both funny and thought-provoking, making witty and poignant observations on human nature, and asking how much should we help our family or strangers, and what defines madness?
