 Mr Jim Dick

 Jim Dick spent 30 years with Smith & Nephew, the last 7 as Global President of its Wound Management operation. He is particularly experienced in international business, innovation and change management. Since retiring from Smith & Nephew he has taken up a number of non-executive and pro bono appointments. He is former Non-executive Director of Consort Medical plc and former Board member of the Hull York Medical School.  He is a founder and Chairman of the Trustees of a charitable organisation, CAT ZERO, which aims to help young people who are not in employment, education or training. He is former Chairman of the Smith & Nephew Foundation and was a founder Director and investor in KCFM a local commercial radio station until its sale in 2009. He is also Chairman of the Trustees of Smile Foundation and Pro Chancellor and Member of Council at The University of Hull. (Excerpt from Catzero.org Trustees 11/10/2017)

The Society is a registered non-political Charity and rents accommodation at
the East Riding Medical Education Centre.
The Society was founded in 1889 and though its programmes have an
educational element, the emphasis of the Society’s endeavour has
always been to provide a friendly informal environment in which its
members are able to meet colleagues from across specialities and
disciplines thereby strengthening the local medical community.
In Particular the society aims to:

  • Provide informal support and mentorship for newly appointed colleagues
  • Encourage networking for the exchange of knowledge and research potentials
  • Support the holistic development of our junior colleagues
