Event description

Description

We invite community-led organisations and youth groups to register their interest in receiving funding to help tackle climate change from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) and attend this event to learn more about how to make their plans a reality.

We encourage potential applicants to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) before the event so that their project plans can be discussed in detail and (if eligible for funding) developed further with a CCF staff member on the day. There will also be information available on support for CCF applicants (and more widely) from other organisations such as Zero Waste Scotland, Home Energy Scotland and Local Energy Scotland.

For those that want to learn more about the CCF, but unable to submit EOI before the event we will provide:

  • A presentation to introduce the CCF, climate change, and the support that we provide to applicants
  • A chance to learn more about local CCF funded projects
  • Information on support available for CCF applicants (and more widely) from other organisations such as Zero Waste Scotland, Home Energy Scotland and Local Energy Scotland.
  • An open question and answer session
  • A chance to talk through project ideas one-to-one

About the Climate Challenge Fund

The CCF is a Scottish Government grants programme which is managed and administered by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful. The CCF provides funding and support for community groups to tackle climate change through community-led projects that reduce carbon emissions.

CCF grants of up to £150,000 per organisation, per year, are available for projects taking place between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2020*. We advise all applicants to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), the first stage of the application process for a CCF Grant, as soon as possible to allow maximum time to develop their application. The final deadline to submit an EOI is 5pm on 28 August 2017.

Development Grants of up to £1,500 are also available to help community-led organisations identify and scope out potential climate action projects - with the aim of enabling the organisation to apply for a CCF grant or to another funder. Applications for Development Grants are invited monthly until further notice.

To date, the CCF has awarded grants totalling £85.8 million supporting a range of successful projects, including energy efficiency improvements to community-owned buildings, home energy efficiency advice, lower carbon travel options and community growing initiatives, plus schemes that help reduce waste and move Scotland further towards a more circular economy.

*For 2018-2019 some CCF Grant Recipients (with projects involving waste and circular economy activities, or installation of energy efficient measures in community-owned buildings) will be match funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The ERDF comes from the European Structural and Investment Fund.
