Description

Course Outline

Shiatsu is a touch-based therapy that applies both pressure and stretches through clothing to the surface of the body. Shiatsu is a therapeutic practice that can support individuals in moving towards greater health and well-being.

This bespoke course has been developed as a practical and theoretical introduction, to understanding the philosophy of Shiatsu.

It will explore the relationship of Shiatsu principles to other forms of bodywork, the correct application of the principles of Shiatsu in the therapeutic environment, and explore the use of Shiatsu and Qigong as a system for preventing illness and improving the health of both practitioner and receiver.

You will develop a deeper knowledge of the body, patient handling skills and sensitivity of touch through the introduction of the use of Shiatsu palpation techniques. This will be done in prone, supine, side and sitting positions.
