To open safely, we’re limiting visitor numbers and you’ll need to book your visit in advance. Sadly, if you don't book, you may be turned away during busy periods.

Please arrive within your 30-minute timed entry slot.

Please note:

  • Please book one ticket per person. Children under 5 don’t need a ticket.
  • Please arrive within your time slot. Sadly, if you arrive outside your time slot you will not be allowed entry
  • Please have your ticket ready to show staff.
  • We’ve made some changes so your visit will be different from what you’re used to. Please follow any signs or guidance from staff.
  • Please follow social distancing and government guidance.
  • Tickets are for your use only and are not available for resale.
  • Children must be supervised at all times.
  • We would recommend that all visitors use the main car park for Shibden Park accessed via the A58 (Halifax to Leeds road), as the small car park situated at the top of the park (off Lister’s Road) soon becomes full and parking on the main road in that area is illegal. Please allow plenty of time to find parking and walk to the Hall (approx. 10 mins) to arrive during your allocated time slot. There are several routes to Shibden Hall which are well signposted at the bottom of the park.

Shibden Hall dates back to 1420 and offers visitors a fascinating journey through the lives of the people who lived and worked here, including the noted diarist Anne Lister (1791 - 1840).Shibden Hall’s architecture is a mix of styles reflecting its interesting and varied history. The adjacent 17th century aisled barn and workshops house a carriage collection and displays relating to different crafts, including a blacksmiths, coopers, wheelwrights and saddlers.

The Hall is surrounded by the beautifully restored gardens and estate that forms Shibden Park. There are a range of features and attractions, including a cafe and visitor facilities, miniature railway, boating lake, walking trails, play area, orienteering course and woodland in which to roam.

Shibden Hall is the focus of the BBC drama series written by Sally Wainwright, 'Gentleman Jack' exploring the life of Anne Lister (1791 - 1840) and those who lived in the Hall and Estate. The series, entitled 'Gentleman Jack' aired on the BBC from the 19th May and also on HBO in 2019.
