SHIFT_GDPR: Everything you want, nothing you don’t

In November 2016 Matt Hancock, UK Digital Minister confirmed that the GDPR will become UK law in May 2018 and the Government will take advantage of the flexibilities afforded by the GDPR to implement UK-specific rules on aspects of data protection. Join Richard French, Legal Director at Digital Catapult, on 31st January to discover what those flexibilities are and how they might benefit you.
Richard French is a barrister with more than 18 years of experience, Richard joined Digital Catapult from Cisco, where he was director of legal services and managed a team to support the company in the emerging markets.
As well as a period as a barrister in independent practice in chambers, Richard has formerly provided in-house counsel to Xerox, Netigy (later bought by ThruPoint), StreamServe and PA Consulting. Richard has a broad role encompassing Catapult legal compliance and risk management, intellectual property capture and exploitation, and advises on contractual and regulatory aspects of digital commerce, media and IT development and acquisition, and has particular interests in open innovation, startup formation and financing, and web welfare law.
Richard has a BEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Exeter, a CPE Diploma in Law from the College of Law in London and was called to the Bar in 1995. Richard is also company secretary.
