Overview

Join us and explore the future of healthcare discussing the shift of care from hospitals to the community in an engaging way.

Join Fraser Battye, Head of Policy at the Strategy Unit, and a Senior Research Associate at Jesus College, Cambridge and Alex Heritage, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, for our first Spark Session.

This session will examine the ‘shift of care from hospital to community’.

  • What is it?
  • Why is it an aim?
  • What has been tried before?
  • How well has it gone?
  • What are the chances of success this time?

Noting that shifting care is not a new aim, the session will touch on some of the history in this area. And noting that previous efforts have largely failed, it will also cover some of the reasons for this.

Finally, it will turn to some current developments – including neighbourhood health – and ask what might need to be different for the shift to be successful this time.

The session will be provocative and stimulating. As well as providing a grounding in the subject, it will encourage participants to think critically and to examine thinking in this area.

Follow-up materials and suggestions for further reading will be provided., Head of Policy at the Strategy Unit, and a Senior Research Associate at Jesus College, Cambridge
