Description
Shift was started up by Studio Precept as an internship programme that allows young people to get real hands-on experience working in a creative agency; providing a way of bridging the gap between university life and entering the workplace.
Beginning with a creative workshop at the Northern Design Centre, Shift's launch event will give a great insight into agency life: from the initial stage of receiving a brief, right up to pitching ideas to a client. Along the way we’ll show you different ways of thinking and working, showing how different disciplines collaborate on client briefs.
In addition to the workshop, we’ll also be having guest speakers including, Gabrielle Omar. Having starred on this year’s Apprentice, Gabrielle will be sharing insights into setting up her own business, how to break into the creative industry, and of course, what it was like working with Sir Alan Sugar!
The day will be a learning exercise but the main thing we want to show is how rewarding it is to work in the creative industry. We’re firm believers that if you work hard then you deserve to play hard, so after the launch event we’ll be hosting one hell of an after party at the nearby renovated church, St Mary’s Heritage Centre. To get it kicked off we'll get your first round in while you enjoy the live music and mingle with other creative types, and we'll be sure to keep you plied with food and drink throughout the day.
If you're interested in breaking into the industry, (whether you're a student or someone just looking for a change in career), this event is a great way to see a snippet of daily life! It's also a bit of a talent-spotting exercise and we will be booking interviews for new recruits to our internship programme.
