About the Day

Shifting Boundaries with Photography
Saturday 22 June, 10AM - 5PM
For ages 18+

Challenge the conventional ideas of boundaries on this creative photography course. Taking inspiration from the RIBA’s photographic collections and through playful interventions with a professional dancer and parkour athlete in our landmark building, you’ll hone your photography practice and explore the dynamic relationship between photography, the human body and architectural space.

Using the 2019 London Festival of Architecture theme of ‘boundaries’, this course will provide a creative arena for exploring personal, intellectual and emotional responses through photography. Working individually and in groups, you’ll develop mini photographic projects that enhance your technical skills as photographers, and we’ll introduce you to a range of concepts and approaches for constructing visual narratives.

About the Event

This workshop is led by Diego Ferrari and Andy Day. Co-programmer of the annual Urban Encounters symposium at Tate Britain, artist and photographer Diego Ferrari holds academic positions at Elisava (Barcelona), Central Saint Martins and Kingston University. His own photographic work addresses bodily interactions with architecture and public space.

Andy Day is a British photographer, writer and urbanist living in Paris. His work examines the body’s relationship with the built environment, wilful misuse of architecture, appropriation of space and place, edgework, and social interaction. With an MA in Photography from Goldsmiths he also speaks, teaches and writes about visual culture and the sociology of urban space.

Photographers of all levels are welcome, using any photographic equipment including phones. You may also wish to bring a laptop in order to review and edit your work.

Online booking in advance is essential.
