Event description

Description

Kingston Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Partnership, invites you to its annual domestic violence conference. Places this year will be open to volunteers and professionals working across the boroughs of Kingston and Richmond.

The recently published JTAI report on multi-agency responses to people living with domestic abuse (Sep 2017) highlighted that while much good work is now being done to protect victims and their children, more long term perpetrator-focused work is needed.

The question that is still being asked is ‘why doesn’t she leave?’ but the right question should be ‘why doesn’t he stop?

Our conference this year examines why and how we should be shifting the focus from victim to perpetrator and will be split into 2 sessions. The morning session is primarily targeted towards strategic leads and commissioners and will provide sound evidence as to why this emerging area of practice should be a priority. The afternoon workshops, for front line professionals will enhance existing skills and tools when working with perpetrators. Delegates may attend either or both.
