Blacked-Out Blocks is a black satire that tells how creative ownership is gradually eroded through collaboration and market mechanisms. Novelist Philo, in the process of adapting her own work into a series, repeatedly clashes with her producer. Their conflicts over script dialogue, values, and power distribution unfold layer by layer. The play, through tense dialogue, a play-within-a-play structure, and constant reversals and breaking of the fourth wall, shows how resistance is absorbed, packaged, and eventually becomes part of the system. Created by the theatre group Nomereach, this work offers no exit, but invites the audience to confront an uncomfortable reality: even your resistance and anger may be used to sell the very thing you most oppose.

Find out more about Nomereach Theatre
Nomereach Theatre is a London-based theatre collective led by Ti Ti and Xinyu Lu, working between London and China. The group brings together playwrights, composers, producers, and interdisciplinary artists to create work that examines structural issues and narrative mechanisms. Their productions span text-based theatre, puppetry, musicals, and cross-genre experiments, often engaging with themes of power, cultural dislocation, neurodiversity, and the relationship between media and spectatorship. Their style is cool-toned, satirical, and restrained—aiming not to resolve questions, but to open them through the language of theatre.
