About this event
“It is a gift to cook for them. I am so lucky to be the one to offer them food at 1am. I feel a rare moment where I am content and full to the brim. I never wanted anything more than I want this and now I have it.”
Food is an important part of Max’s life - from connecting with their Jewishness by making latkes with their grandpa, to cooking for a heartbroken friend, to overcoming the school dining room. Through food, ritual, and making community, Max explores their relationships, discovering what it means to care as deeply for themself as they do their chosen family.
Crowded Table is a semi-autobiographical one-person show about cooking, kitchens, making community, and learning to love yourself. There will be live cooking on stage, and it's probably worth coming just for the free food.
