Shine & Solder: Create Your Own Stained Glass Suncatcher

By Kick Up The Arts Melton

Overview

Join us for a hands-on stained glass workshop where you will create your very own suncatcher

Join us for a creative, hands-on stained glass workshop where you’ll craft your very own three-piece suncatcher to take home!

Perfect for complete beginners and those with a little experience, this immersive 2.5-hour session will guide you through the magic of transforming raw glass into a shimmering piece of art to display in your home.

Please note we are at Unit 23 in The Bell Centre

What to Expect

🔹 Design & Glass Cutting
With guidance from Sarah, you’ll explore the day’s pattern design and practice cutting techniques on clear float glass. Once you’re comfortable, choose from a selection of colourful glass pieces to start cutting and grinding your ornament.

🔹 Foiling & Assembly
After shaping your pieces, you’ll clean, dry, and apply copper foil to prepare for assembly. Then comes the exciting part - soldering your glass pieces together to form your finished suncatcher. Pre-made jump rings will be provided so you can easily attach a hanger.

🔹 Finishing Touches
We’ll clean away any remaining flux and you’ll have the option to apply a patina to darken the solder lines for a classic look - or keep them bright and silver.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a beautiful stained glass ornament to hang in your window. Stained glass is a great way to turn creative ideas into something tangible. The process takes a bit of patience but will beautiful results.

The session will include a health and safety briefing, covering essential precautions and an introduction to the equipment.

Come along and experience the magic of stained glass!
